Patients can transform their entire smile with one simple treatment. Porcelain veneers from Chrisman & Wyse can conceal a number of imperfections. These porcelain shells fit over your teeth to create a symmetrical, gorgeous smile.
A porcelain veneer is a thin shell of porcelain. It's like a fake fingernail, if you will. It's a thin shell of porcelain that goes over the front and over the edge of the tooth. The porcelain can be used to change the shape, change the color, fill in gaps, or replace broken teeth.
Porcelain veneers, I used a lot for smile makeovers. A patient comes in and they're unhappy with their smile. We can use porcelain veneers¸ maybe a combination of veneers and/or porcelain crowns to change the shape and just give the patient a beautiful smile. A beautiful smile that is natural looking and smiles they're happy with.
Patients that are good candidates for porcelain veneers are patient that don't like their smiles. Teeth that are misshapen, teeth that the color is bad, the shape's bad, don't like spaces between teeth, those patients are great candidates for porcelain veneers.
It takes two visits. First visit, we shape the tooth a little bit. We need to take a little bit off the front of the tooth, a little bit off the edge of the tooth, and then we take a digital scan. We can make very, very accurate models taking digital pictures versus the old way of messy full-mouth impressions. And then we make temporaries. We make beautiful temporaries that patients wear for two to three weeks, and after patients come back in three weeks and we take off the temporaries and we bond the veneers to place, end up with beautiful teeth that stay beautiful for years and years and years.
One of my greatest joys of dentistry is when I can show the patient their new smile with porcelain veneers and it's often the patients have tears of happiness. It's very fulfilling.
